I went to the clerk with "The Bank Job" and "Quantum of Solace" in each hand, hoping to get a yay or nay from the guy. Or, at least an opinion...or something useful. When I held up the Bond flick, he responded, "Yeah, that's the sequel to the first movie." Me: Uh, huh...(waiting for more to be said.) Then he points to the other film, "Oh, and that is based on a true story." I calmly replied, "Yes, I can read the cover of the box, too." [as the tag 'based on a true story' was clearly on the front] "But," I implored him, "What can you tell me about either of these...anything?!" Snippy bitch? Maybe. As a librarian, my response would be an offer to look something up to show the patron / Blockbuster customer if I myself did not have an answer. Surely that computer terminal has that thing called the Internet. If not, I'm sure there's some Blockbuster database which includes a description. After all, these movies did have to be cataloged at some point, presumably by a librarian or other information professional. Can't a girl get a 500 field around here? (If you get that joke, you are a librarian nerd like myself. Mazel tov.) Ergo, everyone in the world should be more like librarians. The end.

P.S. I chose "The Bank Job," because, hello, Jason Statham. Haven't watched it yet.

A Map of Home by Randa Jarrar

Currently reading "A Map of Home" by Randa Jarrar. While I was absolutely fascinated by Azadeh Moaveni's "Lipstick Jihad," I just couldn't get into the follow-up book entitled, "Honeymoon in Tehran." (But, I wanted to, though. Just didn't hold my attention like the other one did. Maybe something to re-visit later.) So, onward with "A Map of Home." Read more about the book HERE, while I delve further into it and report more on it later.

World Champion Reader

Thank you, Cole Hamels, for looking adorable while promoting reading.
